Now what

Rogers shares have now gained 72% over the last 52 weeks, trading steadily near all-time highs. In other words, clients are choosing Rogers over rival materials providers for other reasons than low prices, such as product quality and dependable ordering and delivery processes.

Top 10 Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2018: Golar LNG Partners LP(GMLP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Golar LNG Partners LP (GMLP), a limited partnership, owns and operates floating storage and regasification units and LNG carriers under long-term charters. This stock closed up 3.5% at $32.74 in Monday’s trading session.

    Monday’s Volume: 432,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 81,559

    Volume % Change: 283%

From a technical perspective, GMLP bounced notably higher here right off its 200-day moving average of $31.79 and back above its 50-day moving average of $32.56 with strong upside volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of GMLP within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if GMLP manages to take out Monday’s intraday high at $32.96 to some more near-term overhead resistance at $33.15 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in GMLP as long as it’s trending above its 200-day at $31.79 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that’s near or above 81,559 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then GMLP will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $34.78 to its 52-week high at $36.

Top 10 Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2018: Smithfield Foods Inc.(SFD)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By John Udovich]

Thanksgiving is almost here but the exit of both Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (NYSE: PPC) and Smithfield Foods (NYSE: SFD) to focus on their chicken or pork businesses (the latter was also acquired by the Chinese) leaves just two big Thanksgiving turkey stocks, Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) and Seaboard Corporation (NYSEAMEX: SEB), for investors to consider. According to the American Far Bureau, a 16-pound turkey will (on average) come in at a total of $22.74 this year or roughly $1.42 per pound for a decrease of 2 cents per pound or a total of 30 cents per whole turkey, compared to 2015. The price drop may be a transition back to the norm as the significant bird flu outbreak last year hurt the nations supply of both turkey and eggs.

Top 10 Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2018: OncoMed Pharmaceuticals, Inc.(OMED)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Teresa Rivas]

OncoMed Pharmaceuticals (OMED) has lost more than a third of its value Monday, after Bayer decided not to exercise its option to license the firms Phase II-ready WNT pathway inhibitors Vantictumab and Ipafricept, which treat pancreatic cancer.

    Pixabay

That wasnt the only bad news, however, as the firms randomized-controlled Phase II “YOSEMITE” trial of pancreatic cancer drug demcizumab also missed its primary endpoint.

Leerinks Michael Schmidt and his team reiterated a Market Perform rating on the stock Monday, and lowered their price target from $10 to $6 on the news, calling it a “double setback” for OncoMed.

    More detail from the note:

This is a major setback for OMED and in our view for the cancer stem cell targets more broadly, which have been a difficult area of drug development. We’ve been cautious on the probability-of-success of these agents and see more promise on OMED’s recent efforts in building a second area of focus in immuno-oncology. Going forward, OMED plans to review and prioritize its R&D pipeline after results from the still pending tarextumab Phase II “PINNACLE” trial in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and data from the demcizumab “DENALI” trial in NSCLC are available in 2Q17. We remain MP rated in light of the uncertainties around OMED’s pipeline and strategy at this point. We previously assigned a 30% probability of success (POS) to demcizumab which we now have removed from our model. We also think chances that CELG will opt-into this program are slim and we have removed associated POS-adjusted milestone payments from our model. OMED has cash to run operations through 3Q18.

OncoMed is down 36.1% to $5.60 this afternoon.

United Technologies reported a profit of $1.56, meeting analyst forecasts, on sales of $14.7 billion, also meeting the Street consensus. It also backed its forecast, given a month ago, that it expected to report a profit of $6.30 to $6.60 a share. in 2017, while analysts were expected $6.56 a share. That clearly wasn’t enough for investors.

It was for CFRA Research’s Jim Corridore, however, who kept his Buy rating on United Technologies. He explains why:

We raise our 12-month target price by $5 to $124, 18.9X our ’17 EPS estimate of $6.56 (cut today from $6.80), in line with United Technologies’ five year average. We initiate our ’18 EPS estimate at $7.09.United Technologies Q4 adjusted EPS of $1.56 vs. $1.53 was in line with the Capital IQ consensus on slightly lower revenues than we were expecting. Organic revenues were tepid, but we expect acceleration as we move through ’17.United Technologies guides to ’17 EPS of $6.30-$6.60 on 1%-3% revenue growth. We likeUnited Technologies’ free cash generation and intended use of that cash for buybacks and acquisitions.
